Lone Wolf

Supermarine Spitfire Mk XVI(LF)

This Spit’ can be seen in the RAF Manston Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum.

Starting her operational life with No. 66 Squadron, TB752 suffered a landing accident, and after repair, was re-issued to No. 403 “Wolf” Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force, operating from Germany. Coded KH-Z, and with various pilots, she was credited with 4 enemy aircraft by the end of the war.

Spending a while out in all weathers, 752 was rescued from gate guardian duties at Manston in 1978, and taken to Rochester Airport, where the Medway Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society brought her back to her present beautiful museum condition.

I have a soft spot for Manston, having family that lived in Ramsgate, and the rich wartime history of the airfield is very well represented at this museum.
